Porcelain Dental Veneers

Your smile should be something you readily share with those around you. But discoloration, blemishes, and more can drop that confidence, leading to keeping your smile hidden. Veneers open that door once again. At TruGLO in La Jolla, porcelain dental veneers can address a range of cosmetic concerns, turning your smile into one of your favorite attributes.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Our dental veneers are thin shells made of premium porcelain that cover your teeth. We custom make each one and precisely place them so that they look natural. You get a stunning smile but won’t look like you’ve “had work done.” You can use veneers to improve a variety of cosmetic aspects, building your smile so that it matches your ideal.
Our patients choose porcelain veneers when they want to:
  • Cover stains or discoloration
  • Fill gaps between teeth
  • Improve the shape of teeth
  • Correct chips, cracks, or wear
  • Improve tooth size or length

Why Choose Our La Jolla Practice for Dental Veneers

  • Custom-made veneers by a certified lab
  • Durable materials built to last for a decade and beyond
  • Advanced technology for detailed impressions and fabrication
  • A boutique patient experience with full post-treatment support

Getting Porcelain Veneers: Step By Step

Consultation & Assessment

We provide a full assessment of your smile and oral health. Based on a consultation, we can recommend the best options moving forward. You can go through sample photos to choose a look that matches what you envision.

Preparation

We remove a thin layer of enamel and roughen the tooth. This serves two purposes. One, it creates space for the veneer to create a more natural look. Roughening the tooth also makes the surface better adhere to the veneer for longer-term stability.

Impressions

Using a state-of-the-art imaging device, we take full 3D digital impressions of your teeth. Shape, size, color—we create a model of every detail. Accurate modeling is crucial for ensuring your veneers fit perfectly while also looking natural.

Placing the Veneers

About 1 to 2 weeks later, you can come in to have your veneers placed. Before permanently attaching them, we double-check that you are 100% satisfied with how they look. With your full approval, we set them in place.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are dental veneers right for me?

Veneers can address a diverse range of cosmetic concerns, restoring even highly worn or discolored teeth. But we still never rush the decision to move forward with them. Firstly, we need to make sure your oral health is in a good state. If you have active decay or gum disease, we will usually need to get that under control before veneers can be safe.

Overall, some signs that point to veneers being right for you include:

  • Wanting a whiter smile that doesn’t respond to traditional whitening
  • Having chips, cracks, or worn-down teeth you’d like to improve
  • Having small gaps or mild misalignment you want to correct without braces
  • Wanting a more symmetrical, balanced smile shape
  • Having healthy teeth but being unhappy with their appearance
Porcelain veneers start at about $2,000 per tooth. However, the price can fluctuate based on the complexity of the treatment, size of veneers, and number of veneers. At your consultation, we can provide a tailored, no-commitment quote that factors the details of your individual plan.
We also offer multiple TruGLO Membership plans that help offset the cost of care. Depending on your plan, you could save 15% off all dental treatments, making extensive cosmetic restorations more accessible.
Getting porcelain veneers typically involves two visits spread over 1–2 weeks. The first visit involves preparation and taking impressions. It then takes 1 to 2 weeks to get the veneers back from our lab. Once they are ready, you can come in for placement. After that visit, your veneers are in place, and your revived smile is ready to share.
From the moment your veneers are placed, they are fully stable. You could literally go out to lunch right after treatment. However, if we numbed the treatment area, we recommend waiting for the anesthetic to wear off. You might accidentally bite yourself with a numb mouth!
On average, patients get 10 to 15 years out of each veneer. But healthy habits and good oral practices can extend that duration to well beyond 15 years. Key steps include daily flossing, twice daily brushing, routine dental checkups, and avoiding accident-prone activities (e.g., contact sports).
